The Legacy Continues...
Last year's 4th grade unbeaten Luther Lions maintained form as defending
champions. The now 5th grade basketball team swept the 2004-2005 district
pre-season tournament with an undefeated 5-0 record.
"We have a great young team and it's an honor to work with them as the young
players strive for greatness on the basketball court as well as off the court, "
Coach Woodard says. "It's a blessing to see these young men--their
attitude to want to learn more about the game and to go out and demonstrate what
they have learned as a unit." When asked his thoughts on youth in sports,
Coach Woodard stated that "At this age it's about learning the basics of
basketball. But these players are learning to play the game mentally as
well as physically. I tell them to just go out and play the game, but give
100%. It's all about having fun, and the rest will take care of itself.
Anytime you give 100% and do the best you can, you always win, regardless of the
score."
The community and their
classmates are welcome to come out and support these young people as they make a
valiant effort to represent their school and district as defending champions.
