Here's how to do that with the problem  25

 

1.  Copy the problem.   tactile 25
2. Look at the base and the exponent   visual 25
3. Say two to the fifth power   auditory  
4. Say "write five twos."   auditory  
5. Write five twos.   tactile 2   2   2   2   2
6. Say, "multiplied."   auditory  
7. Write multiply signs between the twos.   tactile 22 x  2 x  2 x  2
8. Say "two times two is four"   auditory  
9. Collect 2 of the twos and write four under them, repeat, bring the fifth two down.   tactile 2 x  2 x  2 x  2 x  2

Assignment : Page 36 in you homework workbook.  Make all numbers positive - don't worry about the negative signs.   

Vocabulary:  decimals, estimate, reasonable

Procedure :

    1.  Move the decimal point of the outside number to the far right of the number.

    2.  Count how far you moved it.

    3.  Move the inside decimal point the same distance as you did the outside one. 

    4.  REWRITE your new problem.

    5.  Mark the decimal point in your quotient (the answer area of the division bar).

    6.  Divide.

    1.  Line up numbers on the right side.

    2.  Multiply as if for whole numbers.

    3.  Count number of decimal places and locate decimal point in your answer.
